Alexander Clarke Raeburn 1912-2012 Alex died peacefully, on November 27, 2012, just one day after his 100th birthday. Beloved husband of the late Doris Craig (1976) and the late June Stubbs (2007). Dear father of Lynn (Bill) Baker of Windsor, John and Helen of Orangeville and the late Craig (2011). Dear second Dad to Marilyn Stubbs (Clare) Cooney of Parksville BC and Mary June Stubbs (Lyle) Cooney of Alton. Dad leaves behind his devoted grandchildren Matt (Mamata), John, Michael, Tania (Brian), Lisa (Mike), Cathy (Doug), Chris (Barry), and Kent (Chantal)and great grandchildren: Mackenzie, Alexander, Charley, Braedon, Creighton, Curtis, and Caroline. He is survived by his two sisters Isabel (Bill) Bospoort, and Ruth (Cliff) Coburn and pre-deceased by sisters Clara Finn and Jean McArthur. Dad was proud to be part of the team that built the Avrocar, the Avro Arrow, the Lancaster bomber and CF-100, DC-8, DC-9, DC-10 during his long career in the aircraft industry. He was equally proud to serve his beloved Caledon as a school trustee, Deputy Reeve, Caledon Councillor, and Peel Regional Councillor. He was a founding member of the Niagara Escarpment Commission and first chair of LACAC, Caledon’s Heritage Committee, and served numerous terms on the Credit Valley Conservation Authority, the Ontario Heritage Foundation, the Ontario Waste Management Board and many other committees. | Andy Priede, Fay McCrea, Alex Raeburn, Diane Allengame & Richard Paterak in front of the Old Caledon Township Hall |
